SAILOR

On the safety inspection reports on SAILOR, there are sometimes issues that require additional resources to resolve. Here is a short overview of what resources can be needed.

If you cannot find a solution here, please also check the FAQ or otherwise contact the safety link person in your group.

  • Waste removal
With the multiple different kinds of works at CERN, there is often waste produced, including sometimes chemical or dangerous materials.
The SCE department has a comprehensive website listing different ways of removing waste at CERN. From general waste, aluminium cans or paper to specific or dangerous waste, like chemical waste, nespresso capsules or confidential papers you can find a solution on this website.
If you are still not sure where or how you should remove some specific waste, please contact the service desk (links also on the SCE website) or your safety link person of the group.

  • Electrical issues
Similar to the safety inspections done by the HSE department, there is a yearly electrical inspection done of the buildings. These inspections are referenced on the EDMS MTF location of your building and are also mentioned in the safety report, if there are issues that should be fixed.
Most of the issues require professional intervention, please do not try to fix them yourself! Electricity is a hazards and needs specific training to be handled, please also see the section about Electrical Hazards.
To resolve the issues on your building, you first have to know if your building is defined as a tertiary or a machine building. This can be found on the GIS when you click on your building. If you know which type your building is, please create a ticket to resolve the issues for tertiary buildings or machine buildings.

  • Identification of chemical substances
All chemical substances that are used and/or stored in a building need to be registered on CERES and properly stored. For further information about the handling of chemical substances, please also see the section about Chemical Hazards.

  • Urgent Infrastructure issues
If you have urgent infrastructure issues, for example doors not working, broken floor plates, guards rails or similar, please contact the CCC 72201. If there is a safety hazard related to the issue, please also secure the area properly and if deemed necessary contact your group safety link person.

If there are further points in the safety report where you are not sure how to resolve it, please check if there is a specific HSE contact person mentioned in the issue description or contact your group safety link person or the TE safety office.
