Mandate

The members of the TE Safety Office are the Departmental Safety Officer (DSO) and their Deputy (DDSO).

The mission of the Safety Office is:

to inform and advise all members of the Department – from collaborators over Section and Group Leaders to the Department Head – on the technical and regulatory aspects of occupational safety;
to assess the means necessary for the members of the Department to fulfil their obligations in matters of Safety, including training and information;
to propose and monitor the implementation of appropriate measures to ensure the compliance of the Department’s installations, activities and projects with the CERN Safety Rules, International Standards and best practices;
to oversee the establishment and updating of Safety Files, and make them available to members of the Department;
to review incidents and accidents, propose appropriate measures to prevent them in the future and monitor their implementation;
to oversee the organisation of the Safety exercises;
to co-ordinate the work of the Department’s other Safety Officers and Safety Support Officers.
